WINGHAM DISTRICT RLFC
V
PORT CITY BREAKERS
Saturday 27th April 2024
Regional Australia Bank Stadium
TIGER NEWS
Welcome to the Regional Australia Bank Stadium (formerly called the Wingham Sporting Complex). Today the Tigers take on Port City in 4 grades plus the Women's tackle team play Kendall.

The Under 18s competition began last Sunday at Lake Cathie with the boys beating Wauchope 14-12.

In last year's final game (the elimination semi-final against Macleay Valley) Jake Mullen played his 100th First Grade game. Congratulations! Although it is his 101st First Grade game today, he will be wearing his commemorative jersey number 100.

Congratulations also today to Ronald Uhila and Douzen Hoyato make their Wingham Tigers debut in First Grade, and Ben Guy will finally make his First Grade debut from the bench.

There have been some changes in the off-season; the biggest being the completion of the roof over the grandstand. Thank you to Mayric Engineering. Just prior to the First Grade game, there will be the official opening and naming of the grandstand. This now means that the upper deck of the grandstand now becomes our corporate area. You can book a seat in this area for our home games by clicking the link Wingham Tigers Shop and go to 2024 events. Packages range from $50 to $75 per person (which includes admission, food and drinks).

The Wingham Tigers executive would like to extend a big "thank you" to Bob Staff and Cliff Bush for the amount of work they have done at the ground in the off-season. Also thanks to Mitch Collins, Nash Atkins, Harry and Fletcher Lewis for the concrete path from the grandstand to the canteen.

Congratulations to Tyler Atkins and Emily Sadler on the birth of Theo James Atkins born on 5th April. Troy and Tanya are now proud grandparents.

LATE NEWS: Sam and Leteah Kriss became parents yesterday with the birth of their daughter Myla Grace. Congratulations!

Our sympathies are extended to Craig Martin on the passing of his sister Susan. Her funeral was last week in south western Sydney. There will be a memorial service at Burrell Creek Hall at 11am tomorrow.

We, as a club, were shocked by the sudden death of one of our Papua New Guinea players, Elton Napao at the end of 2023. He was a loved member of the Reserve Grade squad last year playing 10 games scoring 3 tries. There will be a minute silence prior to the Reserve Grade game today.

On Thursday we observed ANZAC Day, and there will be a commemoration today prior to the Reserve Grade game.

Also just before Reserve Grade, our #1 Supporter Jersey will be presented.

Mitch Collins is the captain coach of First Grade for 2024, Andrew Gilbert takes over Reserve Grade from Tyler Atkins, Under 18s is again coached by Andrew Neaves, and Kane Kriss the Ladies League Tag. Daniel Jopp is coaching the Women's Tackle team.

Congratulations to Wayne Bridge on being awarded Life Membership of NSWRL. Wayne is also our Ground Manager for today. If anyone is involved in behaviour or language that is not suitable at the Regional Australia Bank Stadium, you can contact Wayne on 0411 432 585 for assistance.

All supporters and players are welcome back to the Wingham Services Club after the games.

We hope that you appreciate our efforts to "go green" by having this program online using a QR code. It will save plenty of paper over the season. You can help the club also by putting your rubbish in the bins, and taking the effort to put aluminium cans in the special yellow bins.

Next Sunday 5th May, the Wingham Tigers travel to Kempsey to play the Macleay Valley Mustangs in First and Reserve Grade, League Tag and Women's tackle, while the Under 18s have a bye.

Enjoy the games today and Go the TIGERS!
